Coaching Certification
CPR/AED Training - recommended to take through the District
Class is scheduled for Wednesday June 17, 2020 and will be held in the gym at Wetzel Road Elementary from 3pm-5pm. Please arrive 10 minutes early so the class can start on time. The class is limited and is on a first come first serve basis.

First Aid - recommended to take through the District
Class is scheduled for Thursday June 18, 2020 and will be held in the gym at Wetzel Road Elementary from 3pm-5pm. Please arrive 10 minutes early so the class can start on time. The class is limited and is on a first come first serve basis. Any coach that needs the initial First Aid course will have to meet for a second day of class which will be determined as a group (12 hours of instruction).

Coaching Courses
If you are choosing the original coaching pathway by taking the Philosophy, Principles & Organization of Athletics, Health Sciences Related to Coaching and Theory and Techniques of Coaching (sport specific) courses:
Before start of 3rd year coaching - need to complete the Philosophy, Principles & Organization of Athletics course.
Before start of 5th year coaching - need to complete the Health Sciences Related to Coaching course AND the Theory and Techniques of Coaching (sport specific) course.

If you are choosing to pursue the NFHS Pathway to complete the 3 NYS required coaching courses:
Before start of 3rd year coaching - need to complete the NFHS Accredited Interscholastic Coach Certificate (AIC-Level 1)
Before start of 5th year coaching - need to complete the NFHS Accredited Interscholastic Coach Certificate (CIC-Level 2) and a 30 hour coaching internship.

GRANDFATHER CLAUSE
A person employed as a coach in NYS, on or before September 1, 1974, and who does not meet the NYS coaching requirements may continue to coach any sport.
EXTENSIONS
An extension of up to 2 additional years to complete the Health Sciences Related to Coaching and Theory & Techniques of Coaching Courses may be obtained if there is sufficient reason given. Coaching Time Extension Application - see "related files" below.
