CPR/AED Training - recommended to take through the District

Class is scheduled for Monday February 5, 2018 and will be held  in room 429 at Liverpool High School from 4pm-6:30pm.  Please arrive 10 minutes early so the class can start on time. The class is limited and is on a first come first serve basis. Contact Todd Aemmer at LHS at 453-1500 ext. 4203 or email him.

First Aid - recommended to take through the District

Class is scheduled for Wednesday February 7, 2018 and will be held in room 429 at Liverpool High School from 4pm-9pm.  Please arrive 10 minutes early so the class can start on time. The class is limited and is on a first come first serve basis.  Contact Todd Aemmer at LHS at 315-453-1500 ext. 4203 or email him.  Any coach that needs the initial First Aid course will have to meet for a second day of class which will be determined as a group (12 hours of instruction).

If you are choosing the original coaching pathway by taking the Philosophy, Principles & Organization of Athletics, Health Sciences Related to Coaching and Theory and Techniques of Coaching (sport specific) courses , please call Ari Liberman at 315-453-1500 ext. 4087  or email him for information on which institutions still offer the courses.

Before start of 3rd year coaching - need to complete the Philosophy, Principles & Organization of Athletics course.

Before start of 5th year coaching - need to complete the Health Sciences Related to Coaching course AND the Theory and Techniques of Coaching (sport specific) course.

Before start of 3rd year coaching - need to complete the NFHS Accredited Interscholastic Coach Certificate (AIC-Level 1)

Before start of 5th year coaching - need to complete the NFHS Accredited Interscholastic Coach Certificate (CIC-Level 2) and a 30 hour coaching internship.

    PHYSICAL EDUCATION TEACHERS

    • Valid First Aid Certificate
    • Valid CPR Certificate
    • Valid Concussion Workshop Certificate    Online Workshop 

    • Dignity for All Students Act (DASA) Training

    NYS CERTIFIED TEACHERS (OTHER THAN PHYSICAL EDUCATION)

    • Valid First Aid Certificate
    • Valid CPR Certificate
    • Valid Concussion Workshop Certificate  Online Workshop
    • Dignity for All Students Act (DASA) Training

    Within 2 years of initial appointment:

    • Philosophy, Principles & Organization of Athletics Course or complete the NFHS AIC-Level 1 certificate

    Within 5 years of initial appointment:

    • Health Sciences Applied to Coaching Course
    • Theory & Techniques of Coaching (sport specific)

    OR complete the NFHS CIC-Level 2 certificate

    NON-CERTIFIED NYS TEACHERS

    *Only if there are no certified teachers available with experience and qualifications to coach.

    GRANDFATHER CLAUSE

    A person employed as a coach in NYS, on or before September 1, 1974, and who does not meet the NYS coaching requirements may continue to coach any sport.

    EXTENSIONS

    An extension of up to 2 additional years to complete the Health Sciences Related to Coaching and Theory & Techniques of Coaching Courses may be obtained if there is sufficient reason given. Coaching Time Extension Application - see "related files" below.
