US Air Force Band, Conductor Rehearse with LHS Musicians
Monday, January 7, 2019 -
Members of the Liverpool High School Concert Band and the LHS Symphonic Band recently had the opportunity to rehearse with the members of the United States Air Force Heritage of America Band.
The USAF Heritage of America Band, one of the Air Force’s premier musical organizations, and its flight commander & assistant conductor 2nd Lt. David Neil C. Regner were in Central New York for a concert when they stopped by LHS to work with and provide instruction to the LHS musicians. Since its formation in 1941, this world-class organization’s musical presentations and ceremonies have helped create bonds between the United States and the world-wide community. Using today’s technology, the band reaches a large audience through its Web site, social media and audio recordings. In addition, the band travels across a 15-state region from Maine to South Carolina performing hundreds of concerts each year.
Regner also serves as the flight commander for the USAF Heartland of America Band. He has been highlighted by two premier bands of the armed forces, The United States Army “Pershing’s Own” and The United States Air Force Band. In July 2016 he was one of six conductors to be featured in the US Army Band’s annual “Conductors Showcase Concert” and in June 2017 he was one of three conductors to be selected for the National Band Association Young Conductor Mentor Project. He earned his bachelor’s degree in music education from Rutgers University and his master’s degree in conducting from Northwestern University. In 2017, he graduated from Officer Training School at the Maxwell Air Force Base in Alabama.
