Tyler Ogilvie, a member of the music faculties at Dickinson College and Susquehanna University, recently stopped by Liverpool High School to conduct a clinic with LHS French horn players. During his visit, Ogilvie worked with students on a number of musical pieces and offered tips to help improve their skills. In addition to teaching, Ogilvie currently serves as principal horn for the Orchestra of the Southern Finger Lakes and the Utica Symphony. He has performed with various ensembles at places such as Carnegie Hall, Radio City Music Hall, Avery Fisher Hall, the National Concert Hall (Dublin, Ireland) and Glinka Hall (St. Petersburg, Russia). In addition, Ogilvie performs his own electroacoustic compositions for horn utilizing pre-amp sound effects processors, pre-recorded soundtracks and visual multimedia elements. He earned his undergraduate degree in music education and his graduate degree in horn performance from Ithaca College.
