LMS Students Honored During Photography Contest

Members of the Liverpool Middle Photography Club Photo of a sunset over water with a shipwreck in the backgroundrecently put some of their best photos to the test when they entered the club’s annual photography contest.

The seventh- and eighth-graders entered their work in 16 categories: Flowers, Elements of Design (Outdoors), Elements of Design (Indoors), Trees, Collections, Feathered Friends, Green!, Fun with Peeps, Sunrise-Sunset, Hardscapes, Landscapes, Animal Kingdom, Leaves, Just Read!, Patterns in Nature and Portraits.

For the first time this year, LMS staff members could participate in the photography contest, competing in their own category called Spring! Earning top honors were:

  • Best of Show: Shipwreck by Andrew Caimano
  • Judges Choice Honorable Mention: Nobody Knows by Ava Brown
  • Judges Choice Honorable Mention: Glare by Mary Geoghegan
  • Judges Choice Honorable Mention: Autumn Light by Ellie Adams

Earning honors in the Flowers category were:

  • First: Which Color by Aaliyah Contento
  • Second: New Day by Tabitha Tanton
  • Third: Reach for the Sky by Aaliyah Contento

Earning top honors in the Elements of Design (Outdoors) category were:Photo of a cabin in the snow.

  • First: Autumn Light by Ellie Adams
  • Second: Memorial by Andrew Caimano
  • Third: Coming and Going by Aaliyah Contento

Earning top honors in the Elements of Design (Indoors) category were:

  • First: Roses and Sunlight by Andrew Caimano
  • Second: Peaceful by Andrew Caimano
  • Third: Hardware by Aaliyah Contento

Earning top honors in the Trees category were:

  • First: Twist of Lime by Ellie Adams
  • Second: Reflection by Aaliyah Contento
  • Third: Bright Marsh by Nick Ault

Earning top honors in the Collections category were:

  • First: Lemons and Limes by Annabelle Jenkins
  • Second: Pine by Tabitha Tanton
  • Third: Fall by Owen Michaud

Earning top honors in the Feathered Friends category were:

  • First: Striking Jay by Mary Geoghegan
  • Second: Dove Blossom by Mary Geoghegan
  • Third: Blue Jay by Mary Geoghegan

Earning top honors in the Green! category were:

  • First: Swirls and Twirls by Ellie Adams
  • Second: Retreat by Ava Brown
  • Third: Look Beyond by Addie Tanton

Earning top honors in the Sunrise-Sunset category were:

Earning top honors in the Hardscapes category were:

  • First: Nobody Knows by Ava Brown
  • Second: Sit Back and Relax by Annabelle Jenkins
  • Third: Cape May by Andrew Caimano

Earning top honors in the Landscapes category were:

  • First: Winter’s Chill by Nick Ault
  • Second: Breathtaking by Ava Brown
  • Third: Rough Waters by Andrew Caimano

Earning top honors in the Animal Kingdom category were:

  • First: Put Me in Coach by Owen Michaud
  • Second: Glare by Mary Geoghegan
  • Third: Mooooo! by Kaeden Hacker

Earning top honors in the Leaves category were:

  • First: Kaleidescope by Kaeden Hacker
  • Second: Catching Fire by Amelia Dubiel
  • Third: Underfoot by Lily Debejian

Earning top honors in the Patterns in Nature category were:

  • First: Slippery Slope by Amelia Dubiel
  • Second: Flying South by Mary Geoghegan
  • Third: Community by Ava Brown

Earning top honors in the Portraits category were:

  • First: Family by Andrew Caimano
  • Second: Blue Eyes by Annabelle Jenkins
  • Third: Spring Adventure by Nick Ault

Earning top honors in the Spring! (Staff) category were:

  • First: Heart of the Cave by Jessica Tehan
  • Second: The Quiet Hours by Ray Finney
  • Third: Morning Meditation by Thom Hogan

LMS teachers and staff members, as well as Liverpool Central School District administrators, Board of Education and community members, were invited to judge the photo contest.

The LMS Photography Club met throughout the school year to learn about topics such as backgrounds, orientation, positioning subjects, getting close ups, candid moments and unique points of view, as well as to share their photographs with each other. LMS family and consumer science teacher Kara Eicholzer and English teacher Paula DiSanto served as club advisors.
