LHS ‘Penny War’ Benefits North Area Meals on Wheels

Got any spare change?
That was the question the Liverpool High School School-Wide Student Council recently asked both LHS and LHS Annex students when it organized a “Penny War” fund-raiser for North Area Meals on Wheels (NAMOW).
Each Academic Advisement class was asked to bring in its spare change over a five-day period. Pennies counted toward the final total, while silver coins and dollars counted against it. Each student would add pennies into a jar in his or her Academic Advisement room, while at the same time sabotaging another Academic Advisement class by adding silver coins and dollars to its jar.
After hours of counting the spare change they collected, the LHS School-Wide Student Council presented a check for more than $471 to NAMOW Director of Operations Jennifer Covert. Edge Federal Credit Union matched the total collected by the top Academic Advisement class and donated an additional $202 to NAMOW.
