District Earns Safety Excellence Award
Friday, April 7, 2017
The Liverpool Central School District is one of 136 school districts and Boards of Cooperative Educational Services in New York State to receive the 2017 School Safety Excellence Award from the Utica National Insurance Group.
The honor, which is presented annually, recognizes a school district’s safety efforts as it works to keep students, staff and visitors safe. Districts are evaluated using measurable assessments in several categories, including safety and policy procedures, transportation safety, playground safety, bullying prevention and fire safety.
For the fifth year in a row, Liverpool met more than 90 percent of the program’s assessment requirements and earned the titanium with honors award (the highest award possible).
The district received a certificate to commemorate the honor and a $500 award for use in furthering its safety efforts.
“I would like to take this opportunity to thank our district employees for making this award possible,” said LCSD Superintendent of Schools Dr. Mark F. Potter. “Each day, they provide a safe and healthy environment for our students and community members.”
“Safety and health concerns continue to be a priority in our school districts,” said Brian Saville, resident senior vice president in Utica National’s Educational Institutions Unit. “Districts that go ‘above and beyond’ to provide a safe, healthy and focused culture for learning are to be applauded, and we’re pleased to count the Liverpool Central School District among them.”
